The Metropolitan Library System has announced local library activities and events taking place from today through Wednesday.
Choctaw "Art for Kids" takes place from 9:30 to 10:30 today at the Choctaw Library, 2525 Muzzy St. The class, for ages 6 and up, will teach charcoal and pencil drawing techniques. Students need to bring a completed drawing to the class, pencils and paper.
From 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, the library will host "Family Place: 1-2-3 Play with Me" for infants to age 4 (accompanied by parent or guardian). The session provides a time and place to spend one-on-one play between parent and child at the library. A different community resource professional will be available each week to answer parenting questions.
"Family Place: Open Play" takes place from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. On the second Saturday of every month, the Choctaw Library provides toys and a space for parents and children, ages 6 months to 5 years, to play together. Call 390-8418 to register.
From 5:30 to 6:30 Monday, the library hosts "German for Beginners" classes. For ages 16 and older, students will learn to speak conversational German and practice correct pronunciation of common German words and phrases with Hannalore Chan. The Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center co-sponsors the sessions.
On Tuesday, the library will host "Lapsit Story Time." From 9:30 to 10 a.m., children ages 6 months to 3 years can sing songs and hear rhymes and stories with their parents.
From 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, "Preschool Story Time" takes place for children ages 3 to 5. The library will host a session with stories, songs, finger plays and fun to help build early literacy skills.
"Tellabration: A Celebration of Stories" begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Tellabration is an international event of story concerts held every year around the world. Molly LouBelle Lemmons of Mustang will be the featured storyteller. She will be joined by Rosemary Czarski, Carol Roberts, Susie Beasley and Kathryn Thurman. Light refreshments will be served. WayWord Tellers and Territory Tellers are serving as co-sponsors of the event.
From 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, "Children Reading to Dogs" offers a chance for readers to practice and improve their reading skills. The dogs with their owners act as an uncritical, appreciative audience with excellent listening skills. Call 390-8418 to reserve a space.
The library presents "Gentle Art of Yoga Beginners' Class" from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday for adults. Ruthanne Smith of Oklahoma City will lead a yoga session. These classes are free and open to the public.

Midwest City From 4 to 5 p.m. today, the Midwest City Library, 8143 E. Reno Ave., will host the "After School Movie Club." For children of all ages, the movies are rated G or PG. Later, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., the library will host ESL classes, where participants learn to improve their English language skills. Oklahoma City Community College co-sponsors the classes.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, the library hosts "Hunters' Education Safety Course" for ages 10 and older. Workbooks are available directly from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation or at the Midwest City Library. The workbook must be completed prior to class. Participants ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. The Oklahoma Wildlife Department co-sponsors the class.
"Yu-Gi-Oh" takes place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the library for all ages. From 1 to 2:15 p.m. also on Sunday, "Yoga with Suzie Verdin" takes place. This program is free and available to the public. Bring a mat and towel.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, "Community Quilting" will present artistic quilt forms. The Soldier Creek Quilting Group presents the activity. Soldier Creek Quilting co-sponsors the event.
The library will also host "Car Seat Installment Education" from 10 to 10:30 a.m. and then again from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Monday. The Midwest City Fire Department will be educating parents on the 10 most common mistakes parents make when installing car seats.
"Whose Line Is It Anyway?" takes place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday for teens. No registration required. From 6 to 7:30 p.m. the library presents, "Belly Dancing with Katia Visser."
The Oklahoma Native American Flute Circle Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
From 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, "Knit Whit" knitting class teaches knitting and needle crafts. No supplies nor registration is needed for the class. The Midwest City Readers' Society meets at the same time. Pick up a copy of the current book at the information desk, or call 732-4828.
Later, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, the library will host ESL classes. From 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, "Soap Making with Kelly" offers gift-making instruction.
The "Mamaste Yoga Crawlers Class" begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday for a half-hour of exercise for babies 5 months and older who are not yet walking. Bring a yoga mat or beach towel. Later, from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m., "Mamaste Yoga Infant Class" meets for babies older than 5 months but not yet crawling.
The library offers child guidance developmental screenings from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday. To schedule your screening appointment, call Child Guidance at 425-4412. Oklahoma City-County Health Department co-sponsors the screenings.
"Spanish with Señorita Emmy" begins at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. The hourlong class teaches basic vocabulary and grammar. This class is free.
