Midwest City High School graduate and Los Angeles Dodger Matt Kemp not only got on the Major League Baseball All-Star roster, but Kemp will be a starting outfielder July 12 for the National League at Phoenix’s Chase Field.
Kemp is currently tied for the league lead in home runs with 22 along with St. Louis’ Lance Berkman.
The former Bomber outfielder is batting .325 with 64 runs batted in. He also has stolen 24 bases, which will again put him in elite company as he is on pace to be a 30-30 guy (30 home runs, 30 stolen bases) this season.
National League captain Prince Fielder of Milwaukee has selected Kemp to participate in the Home Run Derby, which will begin at 3 p.m. July 11.
