The Midwest City Fire Department was honored for its contributions to the development, promotion and progress of Oklahoma's Technology Center system during the 2010 Career and Technology Education Summer Conference August 2 and 3 at the Tulsa Convention Center.
"The Partners for Progress Award recognizes businesses and industries that have demonstrated their commitment to Career and Technology Education in a variety of ways, including financial support, cooperative programs, community involvement and student sponsorships," John Matlock, assistant superintendent of career and technology education at Mid-Del Schools, said.
Accepting the award for the Midwest City Fire Department were Assistant Chief Jerry Lojka (left); Casey Rooney, public education specialist; and Tim Snyder, fire inspector.
"The Midwest City Fire Department has enjoyed a long and productive relationship with the Tech Center. We hope to continue the partnership and work with Mid-Del Technology Center on a variety of projects," Lojka said.
"The Midwest City Fire Department serves as a leader in promoting Mid-Del Technology Center's 'Early Care and Education' and 'New Beginnings' career programs," Nancy Sullivan, director of marketing at Mid-Del Technology Center, said. "They provide CPR and first aid training to our students and teach a fire safety class to the preschoolers at Mid-Del Technology Center. The Midwest City Fire Department is an important part of the center's open house. At the open house, they bring fire trucks for the public to see and provide car seat safety checks."
